SUMMARY:19th IEEE Conference on Industrial Electronics and Applications 2024
DESCRIPTION:The 19th IEEE Conference on Industrial Electronics and Applications (IEEE ICIEA) hosted by the IEEE Industrial Electronics Chapter of Singapore\, the University of Agder\, and the IEEE Singapore Section will take place on 5-8 August\, 2024 in Kristiansand\, Norway.\n \nOur partner VTT will be present at this event for which they submitted a conference paper on “Programming of Skill-based Robots” back in April 2024 as response to the call of paper. \nOne of many challenges in the field of robotic technology is that easy and fast task programming and execution in robot/sensor systems become a prerequisite for agile and flexible automation. In the conference paper the authors (Lohi T.\, Soutukorva S.\, Heikkilä T. ) propose a solution relying on a robot skill library\, providing a user with high level and parametrized operations\, i.e.\, robot skills\, for task programming and execution. Programming actions are based on use of product CAD models or alternatively collaborative use of pointers and tracking sensor with real parts\, and result to a control recipe in a neutral product context. \nThe paper will be published early August.

DESCRIPTION:Artificial Intelligence-enabled Innovation & Entrepreneurship for Sustainable Manufacturing (AIESMA) Summer School is an annual programme organised by the EIT Manufacturing together with Fondazione HIT and University of Trento. \nThis year the programme is structured in three parts\, one in an online setting and the other two onsite at the University of Trento: \n\nOnline | 8-18 July\, 2024: Innovative Manufacturing: Harnessing AI and Sustainability for Growth\n\nThe EIT Manufacturing AIESMA Summer School kicks off with an online training program that introduces the objectives and industry challenges\, emphasizing problem analysis. The course links academia and industry\, exploring AI’s role in manufacturing\, including trends\, applications\, and sustainability at enterprise and supply chain levels. Additionally\, it covers intellectual property management and ethical AI\, featuring case studies from innovation projects. The 18-hour course is held in late afternoon sessions. \n\nOnsite Week 1 | 22 – 26 July\, 2024: AI & Sustainability in Manufacturing: Problem to Impact Design\n\nThe second week of the EIT Manufacturing AIESMA Summer School takes place at the University of Trento and shifts focus from theory to practical learning\, centering on problem analysis. Participants engage in interactive workshops\, team projects\, and expert lectures to enhance their understanding of AI and sustainability in manufacturing. This hands-on approach provides insights into real-world applications and encourages collaboration through networking opportunities with industry experts and peers. \n\nOnsite Week 2 | 29 July – 02 Aug\, 2024: AI & Sustainability in Manufacturing: Solution Prototyping to Validation\n\nThe third week of the programme focuses on refining solutions to analyzed challenges with mentor feedback and improving presentation skills for effective idea pitching. It culminates in final presentations evaluated by industry experts on practicality\, innovation\, and sustainability. The programme concludes with reflective sessions where participants discuss their learning and future applications\, maintaining a strong emphasis on sustainability throughout. \nOur coordinator Matteo Saveriano from University of Trento is presenting the INVERSE project during the online session of AIESMA Summer School programme on 18 July 2024.
